Thanks to everyone who attended Blues Week 2018. The program seem to get better and better and just happens on its own without managerial interference. It's amazing how like minded enthusiasts can shape an event and create a shared experience that will last a long time in the memories of us all. Everything about it was an improvement on last year. and I feel that Hartpury College is now our new home. The dates for Blues Week 2019 are Sunday 28th July to Friday 2nd August.

Monday 21st May 2018 Update:

Euroblues Promotions is proud to announce the return of the successful ‘Song Writers Circle’ class to Blues Week 2018. The classes will be informal and collaborative. The Circle will be for people who are interested in writing songs but don’t know where to start. It is also an opportunity for experienced writers to share ideas and demonstrate their approach to song writing.

The ‘Song Writers Circle’ will take place on two evenings (Monday and Wednesday) and will be led by Richard Knott. Richard has been attending Blues Week since 2006 and he is well known and respected for his thoughtful and witty songs with great guitar skills to match. He was twice the winner of the ‘Lymm Festival Songwriting Competition’ and he was a semi-finalist in the ‘2016 International Songwriting Competition’ (Nashville, USA). Also, his music has been used for demonstration purposes by National Resophonic Guitars (USA) and Busker Guitars (UK).

Thursday 10th May 2018 Update:

After a 16 year absence, we are announcing the return of French guitarist Michel Lelong to teach at Blues Week 2018. He will be assisting Michael Roach in the beginners class and will be available for one to one and small group sessions.

Biography:

Michel Lelong, was born in 1961 in Tours (France) and started practising guitar at the age of 13. He was influenced by his older brothers who were all fond of traditional American music. Self taught, Michel learned country blues in the styles of Mississippi John Hurt, John Jackson, Mance Lipscomb, Elizabeth Cotton, Big Bill Broonzy and Reverend Gary Davis among others. In addition to his country blues and ragtime influences, in the 1980/90’s, Michel released four tuition books with audiotapes on the guitar styles of country legends Merle Travis, Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins for Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop. In 1999, Michel produced a country blues guitar method book of 75 pages with CD showing ninety-nine examples and blues studies. In 2002, Michel was invited to teach at Blues Week at Exeter University and everyone was impressed with his playing, his teaching and his attention to detail.

Wednesday 21st March 2018 Update:

Thanks to everyone who braved the snow and attended the Acoustic Blues Weekend. The Saturday night concert in the coffee shop was excellent. Everyone had a great time and members of staff are still raving about it. We will be returning to The Beacon, Wantage on the 1st of March 2019. For convenience, I am negotiating a deal with The Bear Hotel (a 2 minute walk) to insure that if you require a room, you will have one because most of us will be staying there. I booked 25 rooms as a guarantee and next year the price for the weekend will include your hotel room for 2 nights. Now, let's get ready for Blues Week 2018.

Thanks to everyone who attended Blues Week 2015. It was a great week. As the event host, the highlight for us was the student concert on Thursday. It was terrific. For some, it was their first time ever perfomring in public. Blues Week is where you can 'have a go' because of the support you'll receive from the staff and other students. One student said: "It's not a like a public performance, it's like sharing with friends". Also, a few Univerisity of Worcester employees attended the staff concert and one of them said: "I don't know blues but your guitar players and Phil Wiggins were amazing! My husband and I loved it".
